 welcome to Bob Ross country!

filed under: tasmania trips

During the last four days we visited Bob Ross country, a huge area in the heart of Tasmania with lots of happy little bushes and bright coloured lakes embedded in a hilly landscape with meadows immersed in luscious green. And blokes – I now understand why Bob was so enthusiastic about the nature he painted… ;-)

Our team consisted of Chris, Allison, Flux and me plus Keith (US), a mate of Chris.

Saturday took us from Hobart to a campsite near Mole Creek where we enjoyed biiiig burgers – thanx to the Jane kitchen staff so much!

The sunday started with rain so we decided not to walk into the Walls of Jerusalem this day but drive instead to Cradle Mountain National Park – thank god that I bought a waterproof jacket there, it was so helpful on the following trips… (It kept on raining the whole day)

Monday was the day of the Walls of Jerusalem, a high plateau surrounded by four hills (Mt. Ophel, Zion Hill, Mt. Jerusalem with East Wall and Solomons Throne with West Wall) with a hill in the center (the temple). The whole area has an elevation of 1300 to 1500 meters a.s.l. It must be an awesome feeling while the weather is fine, but even in the rain it was worth the trip. And I’ve never had a better pasta before than that under the rain cover on the campground ;-)

On tuesday we walked back to the car and drove back into civilisation with a short stop in Deloraine, a picturesque city near Launceston.

Altogether we took about 350 pictures, as soon as I have sorted out and uploaded the best of them I’ll give you the link here.

Update: Now the first pictures are available, stay tuned!
