New Years Eve - What a awesome night!

filed under party tasmania by Jochen

Florian and I had no clue what we were going to do on this years new years eve. Infact we knew a view options what we could do, but had no masterplan at all!
Fortunately a view days ago a group of 16 US girls arrived at Jane to spend there new years eve in Horbart (... and do some Studies ;)).
After the first view sentences it turned out, that they were as clueless as we were and so the girls asked us to join them and see what night brings.

We met at 9:30 PM and an awesome night began…

We went down to Salamanca Square straight into Knopwoods.
It was unbelievable! Rock ‘n roll all over salamaca and the harbour, even Davie Street was closed. I don’t know how many thousands of people where on the streets around the harbour in that night and it was absolutely impossible to cover these crowd on a picture.

After the first drinks the whole bunch headed for The Telegraph, which is from now on referd as the “Purple Bar”! We had a lot of fun in there, the drinks where cheap, and the music was really good.

But as allways the time was moving to fast and it was close to midnight when a guy, seemingly the son of the harbourmaster guided us to an awesome lookout where we all could enjoy the great fireworks of hobart-harbour.

After the awesome fireworks we went to the Isobar.
More Party, more dancing with live music, more…. more…. more…..
But inside the Isobar it was f****** hot and so a few of us decided to take a breathout outside, relax and enjoy the still warm temperatures. But the fun didn’t stop outside! There was a cool girl-fight, a pursuit with the police, sportive attractions, and partypeople as far as the eye can see!

.... as you can imagin, to many things have happended to write them all down.
Finally theres only one thing to say: “It was the most awesome new years eve I ever had in my life!”

 Farewell Party in Bremerhaven

filed under party germany by Jochen

Yeah, the final countdown starts. This was my last weekend in Bremerhaven before I start my trip to the other side of the world. Reason enough to party :) .
I wasn’t only my last weekend! Tobias my room mate and a REALLY good friend also leaves the northern regions of the world. It’s unbelievable! He’s going to be more in the south than I will be! He’s heading for the Antarctic and the island Signy .
We wanted to cheer one last time with all girls and boys who really meat something to us and where so kindly and wonderful and gave us the feeling of being at home here in Bremerhaven!
They suprised us one more time, when they even had farewell-presents. They created carepackets with insectspray and a hot-water bottle and many other funny stuff we would probably need for our trips.
We all had an awesome evening and was indeed a night to remember!

For me it was a real honour to spend this night with you guys!
Cheers

 happy birthday Pagey!

filed under tasmania party by Florian

From sunday to monday we’ve been in Burnie at the northern coast of Tassy to celebrate Pageys (a mate from Jane) birthday. A very cool (or should I say ‘hot’ *g) night… And I learned that in Tassy u not only drive on the left side, switch gears with the left hand but u also use your laundry equipment the other way round. Very Tassy. And I learned that you shouldn’t play cricket in a small garden with a high fence around – unless u dunna want to spend hours with looking for the ball (or was it just my rough German way of striking the ball *g)

Anyways, a great happening – starting with the three-hour-hellride over partially unsealed highways in a rented Daihatsu Applause (I felt like at home *g), continuing in Burnie at the party and ending up with another hellride back to Hobart (we almost hit a kangaroo!).

Yo, of course I took some pics, enjoy (the official ones) here.

 last chance party in JFH

filed under tasmania party by Florian

Yesterday we had the last chance party in JFH which means: No official parties for the next 4 months in JFH. I said official.

OK, let’s explain how last chance parties work at JFH. You have dinner from 6 to 7pm. After that you try to get drunk asap. At the party there are lots of opportunities to be photographed in ‘situations’ you probably cannot remember the day after. The party finally finishes at 12 o’clock and everybody goes to bed, falling asleep instantly. So far so good. There is only one problem for us European guys:

We use to arrive at parties around 10 to 11pm…
So we entered the building (still sober), saw the dancing mass and we were thinking: double-U T F? ;-)

After one and a half hour of fun we slowly got into the mood having a party but – you remember – that was the time everybody went to bed. So we were thinking again: double-U T F? ;-)

So as a consequence we went down to Hobart. Unfortunately without female escort from Jane (remember: they went to bed). What a night. WTF.

The next two weeks every student will spend his/her time on intensive preparation for the exams (we CN students know that, ouuuh yeah *gg). After that Jane will put on her other hat going into conference and summer school mode.

 The Gallery is growing

filed under trips party by Jochen

So, the memorycards of my Camera are full, so somethings got to happen! Yes, i’ve update the gallery with a view pics in nearly every section.

  • The Gaestehaus here in Bremerhaven
  • The Main Building of AWI. Pictures of the new building, where i work will follow
  • After nearly 100km on my Rollerblades i managed it to take my camera with me to show you some impressions of Bremerhaven
  • Last but not least, yesterday evening some guys from the Gaestehaus and I went to a pub called Fietz . It was great! The live-band wasn’t as good as we all expected, but we had fun on our own. Ok the band played very well, but not more than 10 songs the whole night. Another crazy thing was the way to the pub and back home. Five bikes with two lights on the darkest and smallest farm track I’ve ever seen….

Enjoy the Pictures!
